Ifrah Law and EGR Announce Winner of First Annual Pitch Contest for Small Businesses in Gaming Industry
June 1, 2021
Ifrah Law, the D.C.-based boutique law firm nationally ranked in the area of gaming law, and EGR, the leading information service for the online gaming industry, have announced the winner of their first co-sponsored ‘Ifrah Pitch’ contest, a competition specifically aimed at showcasing new startup companies in the ever-growing U.S. online gaming market.
Ifrah Pitch asked small business startups to submit a short video or PowerPoint presentation, along with a brief description about why they should win, how they would exhibit their product, and how it could disrupt the U.S. market. The contest invited submissions from all types of businesses and verticals as a way to support emerging companies and to share with the industry some of the exciting innovations on the horizon. The contest garnered a large pool of applicants, which was then narrowed down to five finalists.
The winner was Jackson Fitzgerald, CEO of Hedge, a startup which leverages the functionality of open banking—in conjunction with the fast-growing digital small change industry as well as online sports betting—to give gamers on a budget a way to “have fun without going over.” Hedge received the highest number of votes from registrants on EGR’s website and won a cash injection of $5,000 and 5 hours of legal consultation with Ifrah Law to support his startup’s next steps.
The winning entry was announced live at the EGR East Coast Virtual Briefing 2021, an exclusive event bringing together senior executives from leading online gambling companies to discuss upcoming changes, overcoming challenges, and future opportunities in the U.S. market. An interview with Jeff Ifrah, founding partner of Ifrah Law, and winner Jackson Fitzgerald can be viewed here.
Ifrah remarked, “The entries in the Ifrah Pitch contest wowed us with their innovative visions for the future of this burgeoning industry. We are thrilled to support Jackson and all the other entrepreneurs seeking to expand online entertainment in ways that are safe, lucrative, and fun.”
