Ifrah Law Represents Terry Rozier in High-Stakes NBA Betting Case; Trial Set for February 2027
Ifrah Law partners James Trusty and Jeff Ifrah are representing former NBA guard Terry Rozier in a federal criminal case now headed for a February 2027 trial in the Eastern District of New York. The case is U.S. v. Earnest et al., No. 1:25-cr-00323 (E.D.N.Y.).
U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall set the trial date following Rozier’s not guilty plea to a superseding indictment that expanded the original charges — wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy — to include sports bribery and honest services wire fraud conspiracy. The allegations center on an alleged scheme in which Rozier and others purportedly shared insider information about upcoming games with sports bettors between December 2022 and March 2024.
Adding to Rozier’s situation is a parallel $26 million contract dispute with the NBA. The league placed Rozier on unpaid administrative leave after his arrest, and an arbitrator subsequently ruled that government-imposed bail conditions restricting his contact with certain teams left him unable to fulfill his playing obligations. Rozier is now asking the court to ease those restrictions so he can pursue a return to the league. Read Law360’s latest coverage on the case here (subscription required).
Speaking outside the courthouse, Trusty pushed back on the NBA’s stance, arguing the league is undermining his client’s presumption of innocence while he fights the charges.
