Trafficking Survivors Relief Act Passes Following Survivor-Led Advocacy by Ifrah Law Client

Hollie Nadel Helps Advance Reform Providing Judicial Relief for Human Trafficking Survivors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – [Jan. 26, 2026]Ifrah Law, a premier boutique law firm handling high-stakes criminal defense matters, congratulates President Donald J. Trump and Congress on the passage of the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act, introduced by Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC). The landmark bipartisan legislation was shaped in significant part by the advocacy of firm client Hollie Nadel, a human trafficking survivor whose sustained advocacy and direct engagement with lawmakers helped advance survivor-centered federal legislation. Earlier this month, Ifrah Law announced it helped secured a presidential pardon for Nadel.

“Hollie’s courage and persistence turned lived experience into lasting legal reform,” said Ifrah Law Founding Partner Jeff Ifah. “This law ensures that survivors are no longer forced to rely on rare forms of executive clemency to clear their names. Instead, it provides a clear, judicial process that recognizes the reality for trafficking and restores dignity to those who endured it.”

Signed into law during National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month, the Act establishes a federal pathway for trafficking survivors to vacate convictions and expunge arrest records for certain offenses committed as a direct result of their exploitation, addressing a longstanding gap in the justice system that has forced survivors to carry lifelong legal consequences for crimes rooted in coercion, abuse and control.

Nadel testified before Congress in support of the Act and worked alongside lawmakers, advocates and survivor leaders to highlight the barriers that criminal records create for survivors seeking employment, housing, education and stability. Her advocacy underscores a central truth reflected in the new law: justice for trafficking survivors must include meaningful pathways to relief, not continued punishment.

“This legislation changes lives,” Nadel said. “It helps ensure that victims are no longer treated as criminals and that justice begins to reflect the reality of trafficking.”

“The passage of this Act is a milestone for the criminal justice system,” added Ifrah Law Partner James Trusty. “It recognizes that accountability belongs with traffickers, not the people they exploit, and it ensures survivors have a real chance to rebuild their lives.”

Ifrah Law commends the bipartisan leadership behind the legislation, and the survivor advocates whose voices made it possible. The firm remains committed to representing trafficking survivors and advancing legal frameworks that reflect compassion, fairness and justice.
