Jordan Briggs

Associate

"My practice focuses on risk management: I like fixing problems before they come up so that they can be avoided."

Overview

Jordan Briggs’ experience in government, in-house, and in private practice at one of the country’s most renowned global law firms informs her multi-dimensional approach to risk management and compliance across a broad range of sectors and issues.

Jordan advises clients on complex transactions from a regulatory perspective. She is well versed in financial regulations such as those promulgated by FDIC, SEC, and FINRA, particularly concerning Fintech issues including cryptocurrency, blockchain, and “meme stocks.”

Jordan joins Ifrah Law after three years at Shearman & Sterling, where she advised market participants on regulatory, transactional, and trading and markets issues. Representing banks and broker-dealers on a range of matters, with particular emphasis on cross-border consideration, Jordan gained valuable experience drafting and reviewing documents for underwriters in complex follow-on offerings and fund acquisitions, ensuring her clients’ compliance with regulatory requirements and the 1940 Act.

During her time as associate at Shearman, Jordan was also seconded for eight months at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Risk Management, where she reviewed citywide contracts to identify, correct, and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse. Jordan’s compliance work contributed to the development of contractual, legal, and policy solutions that resulted in potential cumulative savings exceeding $67 million.

During her studies at the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill, Jordan held externships with the North Carolina General Assembly’s Legislative Analysis division, Laboratory of America Corporation Holdings (aka LabCorp), and one of North Carolina’s leading attorneys focused on bet-the-company litigation. She received her undergraduate degree in Economics and History from Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude. Jordan is passionate about pro bono work, and has worked on military discharge cases as well as death sentence appeals.
