Michelle Cohen and George Calhoun to Present at Association of Corporate Counsel Litigation Forum

On November 7, the ACC is hosting the “Litigation Forum: Going on Offense – When is it Time to Enforce Your Company’s Right as a Plaintiff?”. The event is sponsored by Ifrah Law and will feature partners Michelle Cohen and George Calhoun as presenters. Joining them on the panel are Paul Haase – General Counsel, Talent & Properties, Octagon; Peter Carlson – Senior Counsel with Motorola Solutions, Inc.; and Sloane Perras – SVP, Chief Administrative & Legal Officer with The Krystal Company & On The Border.

The panel will examine the practical and legal considerations for corporate counsel in deciding whether to assert claims. Companies frequently are on the defending side of litigation. What about the “flip side” – when should a company become a plaintiff and assert its rights? What are the practical considerations, such as risks, burdens, choice of forum, dispute resolution provisions, and issues particular to specific claims? We will cover commercial disputes, intellectual property claims, enforcing non-competes and other employment-related issues, and novel issues such as litigation over social media accounts and postings, and addressing serial plaintiffs. (1.5 hours of Virginia Bar MCLE credit pending)
